Dining
Maui Restaurants
Wailea Restaurant Week runs from May 26th through June 1st, 2013. During this event, Wailea's best chefs from 19 restaurants create specially designed three-course menus priced at $29, $39 and $49 per person.
Dining on Maui is a culinary treat that covers a wide variety of options - from fashionable restaurants at The Shops at Wailea and in nearby Wailea Resort hotels to open-air waterfront eateries in Lahaina and Kihei Town.
Pacific Rim. This contemporary cuisine represents a fusion of American, Asian and Hawaiian.
Luaus. Celebrate the food and culture of the South Seas in a beachfront setting. These giant outdoor Hawaiian parties offer live entertainment and buffets featuring a variety of dishes, which might include:
- Chicken luau (chicken cooked in coconut milk and taro leaves)
- Haupia (coconut custard)
- Kalua pig (pig cooked underground, then shredded and mixed with Hawaiian sea salt)
- Laulau (pork, beef or fish wrapped in taro leaves and steamed)
- Lomi salmon (chilled salad of raw, salted salmon, tomatoes and onions)
- Poi (steamed taro root pounded into paste and eaten with kalua pig or fish)
Other island food. During your Maui resort vacation, you must try apple bananas (smaller, denser and smoother than regular bananas), barbecue sticks (teriyaki-marinated pork, chicken or beef pieces barbecued and served on bamboo sticks), Bento (Japanese lunch box), breadfruit (melon-sized fruit served baked, deep fried, steamed or boiled), crackseed (Chinese-style, spicy preserved fruits and seeds) and guava (tart fruit prepared with lots of sugar).
The Wailea Resort is famous for its abundance of award winning cuisine, the finest island chefs and notable restaurants. From golf club locations to spectacular ocean view settings, you'll be able to indulge in some of the freshest, finest food in all of Maui. From casual fare to extraordinary cuisine, you can always find something to fit your palate and your appetite.
Our Ho'okipa Desk will be happy to make recommendations and reservations at these fine restaurants throughout the Wailea Resort area or other Maui locations. Download a complete Maui Restaurant Guide.
