Wailea Sunset Penthouse 406 is extremely desirable for its remarkable Pacific Ocean and Island views. The luxurious and expansive sightline is visible from the front entry and boasts180 degree views; including the Molokini Crater, Kahoolawe and Lanai islands. The well furnished balcony includes outdoor dining table with chairs for four and a recliner lounge chairs, as well as the desired outdoor Viking rotisserie grill. These are literally the perfect seats for enjoying Maui’s year round perfect sunsets, hence the name Wailea Sunset. Also a well loved spot for sunbathing, outdoor dining and whale watching when in season.  On the chance you find yourself not wanting to leave this good-looking suite and private balcony, we have taken the liberties to provide extensive housekeeping services and even a room service option.

Two bedrooms, each with private bathrooms provide a comfortable setting for couples or families with up to 6 guests. The generous open floor plan of 2547 square feet merges a fine quality European gourmet kitchen with an ocean view dining area, living room and semi-private den into one big splendid great room. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors alongside the expansive living room windows create an abundance of natural lighting for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The eclectic collection of Asian, Hawaiian and Indonesian influenced décor includes exotic hardwood furnishings, pottery, fine art, antique and antiquities from around the globe.

Life size reproduction of a Chinese protection soldier greets you in front of the semi-private elevator from underground parking garage; while a traditional Asian ‘Foo’ dogs guard the front door. Both styles of statues are ancient, sacred symbols for their cultures offering protection and inviting peace within. Over your shoulder you are welcomed with a beautiful background view of the neighboring Shops of Wailea and the majestically green Haleakala Crater. Indeed, a special entrance for your special Maui home away from home. The lofty nine foot ceilings enlarge a long entry hallway taking you directly to the great room with flat screen television and ocean views, or into the bedrooms thoughtfully located on adjacent sides of the hallway. Art along the corridor includes a life-size original high density horse hair jacket with incredible fine hand weavings traced back to a field peasant or Northern Chinese fisherman from early 19th century. Lettering of the family name on back of jacket suggests the jacked had been passed down from generation to generation. Full size sword and sheath from the 1800’s with amazing iron work along with an original Temple elephant painting on silk are also displayed.

Master bedroom with light hardwood collection includes King bed, dresser, nightstands, alarm clock, bedside telephone, tropical plants, and standing full length mirror to create a relaxing environment in your vacation retreat. Delightful sitting area for two is perfect for watching the flat screen TV and DVD with digital cable box or planning out your sightseeing trip for the next morning, reading your Maui guidebook before bed. Your view embraces tropical palms, garden foliage and the peaceful, Haleakala Crater.  Décor includes Hawaiian memorabilia of life size 20th century traditional grass Hula skirt, a collection of Hula dolls from the 1950’s, original Hawaiian and Indonesia art and furniture. Luxury en-suite Master bathroom features an outsized deep soaking tub, separate glass shower with seating, double vanity with granite counter tops and custom cabinetry in sleek light oak wood and a private water closet. Large walk-in closet with abundant hangers, extra pillows, blankets, down duvet, 100% cotton waffle weave bath robes, custom toiletries, make up mirror, hairdryer, scale and security safe also provided.

Second bedroom in soft buttercup and white has a Queen bed with tasteful Hawaiian decor, and includes flat screen TV and DVD. Connecting second bathroom offers tub / shower combination and double vanity with dual hand blown glass sconce lighting. Signature amenities for both bathrooms include bathrobes, an abundance of fluffy towels and personal toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, soaps, lotions and loofahs.

The kitchen, considerately furnished with useful house wares, top brand appliances and cooking accessories help make meal preparation a breeze. Luxury appliances include two Sub-Zero refrigerators with freezer drawers and icemaker, Gaggenau Ceran cook top, Thermador stainless steel convection and microwave ovens, Bosch electronic dishwasher, specialty coffee maker and grinder, blender, electric teakettle and toaster. Onsite Concierge can assist to arrange for your recreational plans and personal needs as well as provide a pre-arrival Grocery Order upon request. In-room massage and spa treatments as well as Butler or private chef arrangements are also available.

Large rectangular dining table seats six easily with four additional bar chairs, 1920’s Art Nuevo Chandelier of ground glass, purchased in Paris and shipped to Hawaii illuminates the table for ambient lighting. Special blown pendant lighting is also in the kitchen and bathrooms. Other interesting treasures include a Ming Dynasty vase from the 1800’s, elephant bell from India, original Chinese medicine chest with seal, Indonesian Bengal Tiger, antique doors from a special building in China. 

Pool attendants are available at the family pool, adult pool, jacuzzi’s and the white sand of Wailea Beach to provide towels, lounge chairs and umbrella set ups. Ambient Tiki torches light the walkways, pools and beach for an ambient Hawaiian evening.
