“Romancing Maui”photo

It’s no secret. Maui is the most romantic of the Hawaiian Islands. Statistics say it all: more couples vacation, get married and honeymoon on Maui than any other island. Here are five reasons why:

5. Plenty of sunshine and beaches

On Maui, don’t bother with the umbrella or your swim shoes. There’s plenty of sunshine and the beaches are covered with soft sand that squish quite nicely between your toes. From Wailea and Kihei to Kaanapali, the beaches are pristine with non-threatning waves so you can just focus on each other.

4. Lana’i and Moloka’i

Here’s another “only” for Maui. It’s the only island where you can island-hop without going to the airport. Maui, Lana’i and Moloka’i are part of what’s called Maui Nui (Maui County), underwater, all three islands make up one giant land mass. These sister islands are close enough that you can enjoy Lana’i or Moloka’i islands by hopping on one of the many ferries from the harbors. There’s nothing like a romantic getaway within your romantic getaway.

3. Privacy

Maui is the second largest island in Hawaii. There are plenty of beautiful, public spaces where you can enjoy romantic strolls, picnics and hikes. If you’re looking for unique accommodations without the hurriedness of stacked hotel rooms, there are a lot of beach, ocean and golf-front private villas and condos that are perfect for couples equipped with kitchens, private terraces overlooking the Pacific and access to more secluded beaches.

2. Haleakala

Yes, it’s cold but it’s another reason to snuggle-up and keep each other warm. Whether you go to witness the rising of the sun or setting, at 10,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by the clouds, it’s an experience that can’t be beat.

1. Island Romance

Talk to enough people and you’ll soon find a lot of residents moved to Maui after vacationing here! Couples don’t just fall in love with each other while on Maui, they also fall in love with its people, culture and nature. You’ll soon experience that Maui romances you right back.
