“Activities to Enjoy When It's Raining on Maui”photo

You came for the sun and surf. Today, it’s raining. It’s not fair but you know the rain is also what makes this tropical island beautiful. Don’t worry, the sun will come out to play with you soon enough. In the meantime, here’s a list of great activities to do while Mother Nature enjoys her well-deserved bath.

Pamper your body and quiet your mind

Ever heard of the phrase “you need a vacation from your vacation”? If you are one who tries to do as many activities as possible, pause and breathe. Your body needs a vacation, too. Our recommendation for total rejuvenation is to head over to a spa.

Maui is home to some of the best spas in the world. Unlike most spas where you’re plopped on a massage table upon your check-in, many of the spas here offer several amenities to enjoy before your treatment. These amenities include complimentary use of dry and steam saunas, tropical rain showers, Hawaiian sea-salt baths, mud bars and more. For massages, body treatments and facials, our spas harness the healing and relaxing powers of Hawaii’s indigenous plants, herbs, oils and minerals.

Art & Culture

The Maui Arts and Cultural Center is a world-class facility. It welcomes local and international artists to share their craft. Concerts, off-Broadway plays and musicals, comedians, ballet, opera, independent films, TEDX and cultural presentations are programs that can be enjoyed.

The Schaefer International Gallery offers stunning visual arts from the islands and around the globe. For truly unique pieces to bring back home, its gift shop has an array of magnificent local art that can’t be missed.

Maui Ocean Center

Dubbed as “The Hawaiian Aquarium,” the Maui Ocean Center provides a glimpse of Hawaii’s underwater world. It is home to the largest collection of coral display in the U.S. You’ll also enjoy encounters with sharks, rays, green sea turtles, jellyfish, and many more sea creatures.

The Center also provides a platform to learn about Hawaii’s natural history and cultural heritage through its naturalist presentations, sea talks, tours and “Every Day is Earth Day” programs. It is located at 192 Ma’alaea Rd in Wailuku, 808-270-7000.

Take Pleasure in Your Villas

One of the advantages of renting a home, villa or condo is the lavish space. Unlike a standard hotel room, you have a great kitchen and living room to enjoy your home-away-from-home.

  • Get a movie, pop some popcorn and just relax
  • Game night with the family
  • Delight in a home-cooked meal. Even better, call our Ho’okipa desk who will find a chef to come to your villa and cook an amazing meal.
