Destination Hotels & Resorts Managing Director Maynard Torchiana has lead a tradition of exemplary customer service and exceptional guest experiences while overseeing the company’s Destination Resorts Hawaii operations for the past 20 years.

MAUI, Hawaii – 2007 – In 2006, Torchiana added another exciting destination to the Hawaii collection of properties when Wailea Beach Villas opened to the public in May of that year.

Torchiana’s tenure in Hawaii began in 1986 when Destination Hotels & Resorts was approached to be the first manager of resort residential rentals in Wailea. He played an integral role in the development of Destination Resorts Hawaii, which was created to oversee and manage a collection of condominium rentals throughout the Makena and Wailea resort communities. Today, he has developed Destination Resorts Hawaii into one of the largest, high quality property management companies in the State of Hawaii.

The first condominiums to join the collection were located in Ekolu Village situated along Wailea’s Blue Golf Course. Over the years the inventory in the Destination Resorts Hawaii collection has grown to include six condominium villages and the new Wailea Beach Villas. In addition, the company manages 21 non-rental service agreements for homeowners and is the management company for the Association of Homeowners at Wailea Grand Champions Villas, Makena Surf and Wailea Beach Villas.

Prior to building the Destination Resorts Hawaii collection of properties, Torchiana was regional vice president for Destination Resorts Management, Inc., the company that would later become Destination Hotels & Resorts. While with DRM, Torchiana was responsible for resort properties in Vail, Aspen and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He was directly involved in all aspects of sales and marketing, budgeting, personnel and purchasing. He also was a consultant for the design, development and promotion of a 158-unit condominium project in Steamboat Springs.

Torchiana is an active member of the Hawaii tourism community serving as an executive board member for the Maui Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is an active board member of the Wailea Community Association. Torchiana also has served as Chairman of the Maui Visitors Bureau, was on the executive board of the Hawaii Convention and Visitors Bureau and is a past president of the Wailea Destination Association.

Torchiana received a Presidential Citation for distinguished service as a volunteer in the Peach Corp. He is a graduate of Wilmington College in Ohio and completed his graduate studies from Pennsylvania State University.
