“Restaurant Week Wailea”photo

More than twenty restaurants will be offering special prix-fixe menus to raise funds for the Maui Food Bank during Restaurant Week Wailea.

From Iron Chef Morimoto, James Beard award-winning Chef Alan Wong, and Top Chef finalist Sheldon Simeon to Maui's 2014 Chef of the Year, Isaac Bancaco, there are plenty of delicious dishes to devour. With so many to choose from, there are simply not enough nights to enjoy everything the restaurants have to offer, unless you can put away three dinners per night.

“Best spot to stay! And for the best price.”

We have been going here for five years and love it! Everything you need on a vacation in the tropics is available! There is pools, pool side BBQs, a balcony on each condo, and an amazing view of greenery and the ocean (depending on what condo you choose). It is close to the shops and the beach. We do a Costco run at the beginning of our two weeks and then make home cooked meals for each meal. Love this area!

“Wailea Ekahi Village”

The unit we rented was completely renovated with high end finishes. Anything we needed was there. The main pool area was gorgeous with easy beach access. Overall experience was wonderful.

We just came from staying again at grand champions, this time was a way better experience.   Maybe because we knew where we were going for starters:) If its your first time, read the directions carefully, especially if its a late night check in.

The unit was beautiful, spacious and clean. View was breathtaking, could even see the ocean. Very quiet unit, bed was extremely comfortable also. Everything you could hope for to cook any meal, or perhaps a blended cocktail?

The pool was very nice, even heated, just perfect! We look forward to staying at the grand champions again, just pick the right unit.

Another thing we loved about this unit was, it had two bathrooms! Highly recommend this place for a quiet, romantic get away:)

“Peaceful, fun, family vacation condo”

We stayed at Wailea Ekolu U#106, for 9 nights in March 2014. We are experienced Maui vacationers (condos and hotels) and this was our first booking. Check-in was fast and efficient, the condo itself was above average, newer kitchen, 2bed/2ba unit, typical island style furnishings, all necessary appliances and items like beach umbrellas, chairs etc. Location is fantastic despite close proximity to a main road. The nearest pool was easily accessed and often not very busy which meant no struggling to find a lounger and complete freedom in the water (kids could snorkel, dive for fish, throw a ball etc.).

“Everything Perfect!”

Why stay in a tiny hotel room when you can stay at the Wailea Beach Villas? It's like staying in your own apartment right in the heart of Wailea! The property, staff, and rooms are all first-class...and I love that you get an assigned parking stall (so you can find your car!). Accommodations were immaculate, and I kept finding new gadgets and things in the kitchen I didn't know I needed.

“Great Location - Right on the Beach”

This is a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit with ocean view. We stayed for 12 nights. It was our first time staying in a condo/vacation rental vs a resort or hotel. We were a little worried at first, but it turned out great. We were so much closer to the beach than we would've been had we stayed at a resort. We could watch the kids (teenagers) on the beach from our lanai. It was great to have separate bedrooms and bathrooms. There was a king bed in 1 room and 2 twins in the other so the kids each had their own bed. The kitchen came fully equipped with everything we might need. It was so helpful to have a washer and dryer in the unit! There is underground parking which was very convenient.

The Makena Surf G304 is amazing. This condo was recently renovated and it's beautiful all the way through. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It has two lanai's that overlook an unobstructed view of a small beach. Also unsurprisingly, the best views of a Maui sunset you could ask for.

“Great Views”

Good: great views of the ocean, condo facilities and decor were very comfortable. Easy access, steps to a beautiful beach and 'boardwalk'. Close to many great restaurants, shopping. Well maintained gardens/grounds

“Loved it!”

Our unit was a ways back but still boasted a great view of the ocean and gorgeous gardens. Our condo was incredibly well equipped very modern and well decorated truly felt like a home away from home. Kids enjoyed the smart TVs and my husband and I loved the privacy of our deck. The private bbq's are a huge bonus! Daily housekeeping and towel service a plus as was the washer and dryer. Have nothing bad to say. We really did love it at Elua. There is no doubt we will be back soon.

“Wailea Elua Village”

Good: Loved it at Elua, we will be back! Exceeded every expectation.
Bad: Hated leaving!

“Obon Festivals: Remembering and Celebrating Family Ties”photo

In 1868, the first Japanese arrivals to Hawai’i were recruited as contract sugar cane workers.  Misunderstandings caused Japan to impose an immigration ban for nearly 2 decades and it wasn’t until 1885 when Hawaii’s King Kalakaua, the first king to ever circumnavigate the globe, met with the Emperor Meiji of Japan that the ban was lifted. By 1965, Ethnic Japanese comprised nearly one-fifth of Hawaii’s population.
