Lei Day, recognized each year on the first of May, is a day in which the people of Hawai’i celebrate the tradition and beauty of the lei.  Also referred to as May Day, it is a time when island schools celebrate with performances and entertainment that parents look forward to with camera in hand. Lei making is an integral part of the festivities with contests held all over the islands.

Although you may be enjoying your Maui vacation in the lap of luxury, gazing off the edge of a beachfront infinity pool at stunning vistas, venture beyond the paved roads lined with rolling green golf courses and get a glimpse of Maui in its natural state. 

We stayed here as a family and really enjoyed our stay. There were 3 adults, 2 teenagers and our son (10 yrs old at the time) and we fit into Unit 134 just fine. The place was spacious and clean, the beds were comfy (even the roll away they brought for our son) and everything we needed in the kitchen was provided.

These condos are situated between the tennis club and a golf course. We had number 142 with a partial ocean view on the tennis club side of the development. Our 1 bed condo had two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and spacious living area. It was nicely furnished and we had everything we could ask for including beach towels, boogie boards and beach chairs!

We have rented one of these condos for a week every February for the past 15 years so obviously we have been extremely satisfied overall. Wailea Elua Village is a verdant oasis of peace and tranquility surrounded by huge crowded noisy 4 star hotels. The units are strategically positioned for maximum privacy and are surrounded by perfectly manicured lawns on rolling acres punctuated by vibrant bougainvillea, flowering Hibiscus and ginger.

Good: very nice units Bad: none Location Tip: wailea/kihei is sunnier than other maui locations. Our unit was close to a busy road so when the doors/windows were open on that side of unit, you can hear it. It was not disruptive for us but may be a problem for others. Otherwise, it's a great place.

We recently stayed in #1604, a 2 bd 2 shower beachfront upper floor condo with renovated kitchen and loved the view of the "point". The kitchen was well equipped with good dishes, flatware, glasses, utensils etc. We spoke to Destination Resorts about one scratched and slightly warped frying pan and a new replacement arrived immediately.
