    Generations: Dalire Ohana

Hula is poetry in motion and the Dalire ‘Ohana has been putting poetry to motion for generations. The essential elements of hula are music, dance, the Hawaiian language, and lineage – a respect for received traditions and an awareness of one’s own origins. For nearly four decades, Kumu Hula Aloha Dalire, has set the highest standards in each area through her own performances and those of her hālau, Keolalaulani Hālau ‘Olapa O Laka, founded by her mother on O‘ahu in 1963.

Today, the eighth generation of Kumu Hula exists in the Dalire ‘ohana as the daughters have all continued the legacy of hula through their halau. In addition, each of these women has won the coveted and prestigious title of Miss Aloha Hula at the Merrie Monarch Festival.

    Tickets: $30 (plus applicable fees)
